Copy Cat

One of my absolute favorite blogs is
The Polished Pebble

Kelley is an incredibly talented designer who takes ordinary things and transforms them into one of a kind pieces.   I especially love the creative lamps she has fashioned from such things as ice cream churns and baskets.
You can check them out here.

As soon as I saw these I was inspired to create one of my own:

It took me a couple of months, but I finally found a bottle and crate at a thrift store so I could copy the idea.

(Afterall, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?)

And this is what I came up with.

I'd love to hear what you think of it!

(And oh, by the way, it's for sale!)

Wild Rose and Company - Day One

opened its doors today in Walkersville, Maryland to
dozens of enthusiastic and supportive customers!

I'm so thrilled to be part of such a talented group of women and so thankful to Lynette, the proprietress, for such an amazing opportunity.

For more on today's opening (and video of the shop), check out Miss Mustard Seed's blog here!

Keeping Good Company

In my last post I told you about my friend, Lynette, who's opening a new shop in Walkersville, Maryland
 called

What I didn't tell you is that she asked me to be part of the Company!

I was hesitant to say yes at first because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to handle my other ventures:

and Lynette's new shop, in addition to all of my other family and work responsibilities.

But I went to see the shop while it was under renovation, loved the feel of the space,  and was impressed with the dream team of company girls Lynette had assembled, and had to say yes!

Check out the rest of the company:
We're opening tomorrow, September 25th and we'd love to see you there!

A Company Girl

This is Lynette.

She's a friend of mine and fellow barn girl at Chartreuse & Co. and she's holding a sign
 Molly painted for her.

To hang here:

Lynette is an incredibly talented designer
(Her home was featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine!)
and the sweetest person I've ever met!

Her new shop is going to be loaded with antiques, vintage finds, retro style toys and games, amazing candles, old-fashioned candy, architectural salvage and whatever else Lynette and "Company" find to fill the shop!

Hmm, I wonder who the
"Company Girls" are?

More on that later....

No Luck

I went to the auction today.

It was hot.

I was tired.

I was desperate.

I have two barn shows coming up and I'm looking for some inspiration.

Something fabulous to build a theme on.

I usually find it at the auction.

Not today.

It was an absolute bust.

The selection was weak and what I did bid on, I was promptly outbid on.

It was the first time I've ever come home from an auction empty handed.

And cranky.....

I
